On 15 November it's that time again: the Duo Xtreme Curaçao is coming up! The organisation is already busy preparing the trails and routes. This year the Duo Xtreme has a new start and finish location. The new location is easier to reach and offers more space to park your car. For the keen cyclists among us the spot is already familiar, because it is the same start location as the Coral Estate Classic: the yellow building, just past the Williwood sign, on the road towards Willibrordus.
After the start we ride towards Porto Marie and then on to the lookout tower. From there the course largely follows the familiar route of previous years. This year there is again the split between the 50 km and 70 km at the cows of San Pedro. The final part of the route has been adjusted this year, though. We turn off before Jan Kok Baai and ride a stretch along the water towards the Keienstrand. At the end we take the Coral Estate Trail.
And then there is news some of us will be very happy about… and others perhaps a little less! The notorious calf-burner 'De Zeven Heuvelen' is not part of the course this year due to works. Via the route we then return to Jan Kok Baai. From there it goes straight to the finish, at the same spot where we started.
After all those kilometres the best part awaits, of course: relaxing, enjoying and basking in a great achievement! And there is another fun extra: during the prize ceremony there will be a draw with lovely prizes. Every participant and every volunteer has a chance to win!
