On Tuesday 3 November 2026 the route of the 2027 Tour of Italy will be presented in Rome. Sporza rounded up the rumours: two time trials and a final week that will be extremely hard.

The Giro is expected to start on Saturday 8 May 2027 in Trieste, with a first stage finishing in Koper, Slovenia. A day later the race departs from Ljubljana. The start has not been officially confirmed yet.

In the first week, stage 5 to Sassotetto is the first summit finish, with a tribute to former winner Michele Scarponi. Stage 7 is an uphill time trial of just over 17 kilometres to Campo di Giove, with gradients never above 6 percent.

The second week includes the Mugello circuit, Zum Zeri and Piani di Bobbio. Stage 15 is the second time trial: a flat race against the clock in Monza.

Then comes the final week. Stage 16 to Aprica would be the queen stage with around 6,000 metres of climbing: the Mortirolo twice with the Passo Gavia in between. At 2,618 metres the Gavia is the roof of the Giro. After that, Madonna di Campiglio and Monte Zoncolan still await.

The Giro ends on Sunday 30 May 2027 in Rome, where the final pink jersey is awarded. Want to read the full article? Click the button below for the story on Sporza.
